Today is the twins' second birthday. It's hard for me (Mimi) to believe the miles these little ones have traveled in those two years. I wonder if their birth mother is thinking about them today -- I want to think so. She must have loved them very much. Although the exact circumstances of their birth can never be known, one thing is certain... their mother's decision must have been one of desperation. After keeping them for two weeks she did what many tens of thousands of other Chinese mothers have been forced to do. She left them in a safe place in the hope that they would be quickly found and cared for - then she walked away.

and loved and cared for they are and will ever be. What a great Mom and Dad they have!

My wish for the girls today is to know that....

Once there were two women who never knew each other.
One you do not remember, the other you call Mother.

Two different lives shaped to make you one.
One became your guiding star, the other became your sun.

The first gave you life, and the second taught you to live it.
The first gave you a need for love. The second was there to give it.

One gave you a nationality. The other gave you a name.
One gave you a talent, the other gave you aim.

One gave you emotions. The other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile. The other dried your tears.

One gave you up-- it was all that she could do,
The other prayed for a child and God led her straight to you.

And now you ask me, through your tears, the age-old question unanswered through the years,
Heredity or Environment, which are you the product of?
Neither, my darlings. Neither. Just two different kinds of love.

In honor of their birthday I am sharing some of my favorite pictures of the girls. Just click on "Birthday" below. You will want to turn the volumn off or down on the MP3 player located below the China Time and Weather on the right of the blog. To turn the blog music off just click on "Stop" or you can turn it down on the volumn control. I hope you enjoy~
